An ERV dehumidifies and freshens your living space

An ERV works during the heat and the cold.

  • In warm weather, the ERV removes humidity and moisture from the fresh air entering your house. Due to the way the energy recovery core inside the ventilator works, the air coming inside your house becomes cooled as that air passes through the ventilator.

Why would I need a Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV)?

An HRV is used to exchange stale air from inside your home with the air from outside;, which is much fresher. It provides your house with ventilation and controls wintertime condensation that can damage windows, insulation and furniture.

Using an HRV system is equivalent to having your windows open without actually having them open.

Not only does an HRV bring in fresh air, but it will also get rid of many of the pollutants in your home like excess moisture and moulds, household chemicals and certain types of airborne bacteria

The way an HRV works is through heat transfer.

  • The exhaust and the air from outside pass through the ventilator, and the heat from the exhaust air is used to pre-heat the outdoor air.
  • Only the heat is transferred, as the two air streams internally do not mix and are separate streams.
  • An HRV is able to save 70-80 per cent of the heat from the exhaust air. This proves to be an effective technique to reduce energy consumption.
